The ultimate climbers’ test
The Val d’Aosta queen stage (stage 14) will finish in Pila, with a climb that marks the beginning of the decisive phase of the 2026 Giro.
After a long sequence of climbs, the route culminates with the ascent from Gressan: 16.5 km at 7,1%, steady but demanding, set in a stunning Alpine landscape with views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso.
A regular feature in the 1980s and 1990s, Pila returns to the Giro after more than thirty years, but from a new side.
Robert Millar won here in 1987, while Udo Bölts triumphed in 1992.
A long-awaited return, destined to leave its mark.
