The Alpine challenge of Ticino
The 2026 Giro will also visit Switzerland, in the Canton of Ticino, finishing in Carì, a beautiful terrace above 1,600 metres.
Stage 16 will be short but intense, featuring an opening circuit with climbs around Torre and Leontica, before descending to Faido and tackling the final ascent.
The last 11.7 km, steady at around 8% but steeper towards the finish (up to 13%), promise selection and spectacle.
A novelty for the Giro d’Italia, but not for international cycling: the Tour de Suisse has already used this climb, with wins by Darwin Atapuma in 2016 and Adam Yates in 2024.
