The Giro d’Italia Criterium, consisting of 30 laps of a 2.1km circuit, is taking place on 6 November as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai – the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, where the ‘Made in Italy’ campaign is showcasing Italian excellence.
The official start list of the first-ever Giro d’Italia Criterium, organised by RCS Sport with the support of MadeinItaly.gov.it, Dubai Sports Council and Expo 2020 Dubai, is revealed.
Four representatives of the peloton spoke to the media at the Expo 2020 Dubai – Italy Pavilion this afternoon, ahead of the start of the 2021 Giro d’Italia Criterium. The top-class group of riders includes; 2021 Giro d’Italia winner and 2019 Tour de France Yellow Jersey Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers), three-time UCI Road Race World Champion Peter Sagan (BORA hansgrohe), two-time UCI ITT World Champion and winner of six stages of the Giro d’Italia Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) and nine-time Grand Tour stage winner Elia Viviani (Cofidis) who was recently crowned Track World Champion in the Elimination race.
The start line will also see the likes of 2021 Giro d’Italia winner of the KOM Classification Geoffrey Bouchard (AG2R Citroën), Olympic Gold Medalist in the Track Team Pursuit Simone Consonni (Cofidis), winner of the Monte Zoncolan stage of 2021 Giro d’Italia, Lorenzo Fortunato (EOLO-Kometa), winner of Stage 2 of 2021 Tour de Luxembourg, Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates) and Attila Valter, whom in 2021 became the first Hungarian rider to wear the Giro d’Italia Maglia Rosa, as he took the overall lead after the sixth stage.
