tourist info

Cibiana di Cadore is located on the slopes of Monte Rite, along the road connecting the Boite valley (in the village of Venas) to the Zoldana valley via the Cibiana Pass. In the past, iron mines (which can be visited today) were active in the surrounding mountains.

Cibiana is known for its Murals, large-scale frescoes painted on the façades of houses, which tell the story of the town through representations of arts, crafts, festivals and legends, thus serving as an open-air museum. The initiative began in 1980, and the Murals are linked to the name of Vico Calabrò, who for sixteen years was the artistic coordinator of the murals in Cibiana di Cadore.

The summit of Mount Rite houses the “Museum in the Clouds“, one of the Messner Mountain Museums, dedicated to the history of exploration and mountaineering in the Dolomites.
