In the Valle dei Templi, Ulissi conquers Agrigento! Ganna keeps the Maglia Rosa

Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) won Stage 2 of the 103rd Giro d’Italia, 149km from Alcamo to Agrigento. Peter Sagan (Bora – Hansgrohe) and Mikkel Honoré (Deceuninck – Quick – Step) finished second and third, respectively.

Filippo Ganna (Team Ineos Grenadiers) retains the Maglia Rosa and leads the general classification.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner Diego Ulissi said: “I told Valerio Conti to accelerate to drop the sprinters on the last km, we were perfect, I’m really happy for this extraordinary success.”

The Maglia Rosa Filippo Ganna said: “The final climb was very hard and we climbed up very fast. I am happy I retained the Maglia Rosa, it’s a very nice feeling. Tomorrow I will work to help Geraint Thomas.”
