Announced the agreement between RCS Sport and Tissot
The agreement between RCS Sport and Tissot has been announced today, with the Swiss brand becoming the official timekeeper for the Corsa Rosa and all the Italian races organized by RCS Sport. The duration of the partnership will be three years (2020/2021/2022) and, in addition to the Giro d’Italia, includes Strade Bianche, Milano-Sanremo, Tirreno-Adriatico, Il Giro di Sicilia, Milano-Torino, Gran Piemonte and Il Lombardia.
To celebrate the partnership with the Giro d’Italia, Tissot will launch the Tissot Chrono XL Giro d’Italia 2020, a 45mm diameter chronograph that pays tribute to the first collaboration between Tissot and the Giro.
Urbano Cairo, President of RCS MediaGroup said: “Sport, the Giro d’Italia and all cycling are a fundamental asset for our group. We want to grow our events more every year and the partnership with an international brand of Tissot’s stature makes us proud because it means that we are working in the right direction. I am sure that the collaboration between our two companies will be as successful as our respective products are.”
Francois Thiébaud, President of Tissot, said: “Tissot is proud to announce that it is becoming Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Giro d’Italia. This is the first time in the world of cycling that a watchmaking brand has been the worldwide partner of the main cycling events. Tissot’s involvement as Partner of big sporting events like the Giro means the beauty and technical capacity of our products will be associated with the emotional values encountered in the sport, in relation to both individual and team performance. Ensuring precise timekeeping also demonstrates the precision of our watches. With these commitments, Tissot is proud of presenting the time beautifully as well as being a timekeeper.”
Paolo Bellino, CEO and General Manager of RCS Sport said: “The Corsa Rosa has grown exponentially in recent years as well as our other events such as Strade Bianche without forgetting our two Classic Monuments, Milano-Sanremo and Il Lombardia. This three-year agreement with Tissot, a world-class brand that already has a long history in sport, makes us proud because it means that large companies identify our events as strategic resources to invest in.”
