Tim Merlier wins Stage 18 of the 2024 Giro d’Italia

Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) has won Stage 18 of the 107th Giro d’Italia, the 178 km long Fiera di Primiero-Padova. Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) and Kaden Groves (Alpecin – Deceuninck) finished second and third respectively.
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) retains the Maglia Rosa.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner Tim Merlier said: “We tried to organise something from far out with Julian Alaphilippe. It was an important day. We were always in a good position. I was a bit surprised that the last kilometre was so fast. I found the moment to start my sprint. It was tight but I know I’m fast”.
