The Maglia Rosa for the Giro d’Italia 109 unveiled in Rome

29/04/2026

The Maglia Rosa of the 109th Giro d’Italia was officially unveiled today at the Protomoteca Hall in Campidoglio. A timeless icon of the race and a symbol of sporting excellence, the 2026 edition carries even deeper meaning, closely tied to the history and identity of Italy.

Inside the collar, a special insert celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, bearing the message: “THE SPORT THAT UNITES, THE ITALY THAT INSPIRES”, accompanied by the wording: “1946–2026 – 80 YEARS – ITALIAN REPUBLIC.”

IO SONO FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA will serve as Official Sponsor. The Region’s institutional brand, launched in 2020, promotes its territory, businesses, and local initiatives, with a strong focus on origin, sustainability, and identity.

ALTOGRANO, an innovative brand from the Casillo Group representing a new frontier in sustainable nutrition, joins the Giro d’Italia as the “Official Ingredient.” Its logo will appear on the sleeve of the Maglia Rosa.

CASTELLI, a benchmark of Italian manufacturing with 150 years of history. To mark this milestone, its iconic scorpion logo has been reimagined in a special, innovative version. The leaders of the Giro d’Italia classifications will wear the fastest jersey in the world, the result of an aerodynamic study carried out by Castelli’s technicians and tested in the wind tunnel of the Politecnico di Milano.

The front of the jersey will also feature Masaf – Io Amo La Cucina Italiana Patrimonio dell’Umanità. The project, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, celebrates the nation’s food and wine heritage, further enhanced following support in 2025 for the Italian cuisine’s candidacy as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The presentation was attended by Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri; RCS MediaGroup President Urbano Cairo; Rome Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion Alessandro Onorato; RCS Sports & Events CEO Paolo Bellino; La Gazzetta dello Sport Director Stefano Barigelli; Vincenzo Nibali, winner of two Giro d’Italia titles (2013 and 2016), Francesco Casillo, Chairman and CEO of Casillo S.p.A., representing the Altograno brand; and, with a video message, Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.

Quotes

Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region: “This partnership with RCS represents a strategic step for Friuli Venezia Giulia. Linking our ‘Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia’ brand to the Maglia Rosa of the Giro d’Italia means positioning the Region on one of the most prestigious and internationally recognized stages. The Giro is much more than a sporting competition: it is a global narrative capable of showcasing territories, identities, and communities. Being a protagonist in this narrative allows us to strengthen our visibility, attract new tourist flows, and generate concrete opportunities for economic development. It is an ambitious choice that looks to the future and stems from a clear vision: investing in major events to promote Friuli Venezia Giulia worldwide”.

Urbano Cairo, President of RCS MediaGroup: The Maglia Rosa is not only a symbol of sporting leadership, but an icon recognised all over the world. This year, it takes on an even deeper meaning thanks to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic—an important milestone that we want to honour also through the Giro d’Italia, one of the most authentic expressions of Italy in motion. We are also pleased to welcome new partners who have chosen to associate their name with such a prestigious symbol: this confirms the strength and appeal of the Maglia Rosa, which continues to evolve while remaining true to its tradition. Presenting it here in Rome further reinforces this message of unity and national pride that the Corsa Rosa has carried with it for over a century”.

Francesco Casillo, Chairman and CEO of Casillo S.p.A: “The Giro d’Italia is much more than a race: it is a story that travels across the country stage by stage, touching its deepest roots and celebrating the beauty and identity of our land. For over a century, it has brought together communities, territories, and generations—and it is within this context that Altograno finds its natural home. Altograno is born from that very same land and the same pursuit of excellence. Behind this product lie years of research and development, along with the ambition to create something that goes beyond the traditional concept of flour: naturally rich in fiber and high in protein, capable of delivering real nutritional value in people’s daily lives. A diet based on Altograno meets the needs of elite athletes, such as the cyclists of the Giro, but also those who practice sports at an amateur level, as well as anyone who cares about their health—because taking care of yourself at the table is already a sporting choice. All this without sacrificing taste and the milling tradition that has always distinguished our company. Being the “Official Ingredient” of the Giro d’Italia and seeing the Altograno logo on the Maglia Rosa is, for us, both an honor and a confirmation that true innovation—rooted in quality, research, and respect for raw materials—always finds its place at center stage. Like the great champions who give their all on these roads every year, we too have chosen not to settle. And today, we are here, on the most iconic jersey in world cycling”.

Vincenzo Nibali: Every time I see the Maglia Rosa, I feel a special emotion. It is the symbol of sacrifice, passion and dreams that accompany every rider along the roads of the Giro d’Italia. Wearing it and winning the race, as I did in 2013 and 2016, is something that stays with you forever. I am sure that this year it will once again inspire today’s champions and the next generation to write new pages of history”.
