Following the great success of its first two editions, which saw over 120,000 registered players, the FantaGiro d’Italia returns once again this year. It is the official fantasy game of the Giro d’Italia, conceived and produced through the collaboration between RCS Sport and the FantaSanremo team.
Once again, fans will be able to download the new FantaGiro d’Italia mobile app or register on the website www.fantagiroditalia.it, to experience their passion for the Giro d’Italia at 360 degrees: not only by following the riders’ exploits along the roads of Italy, but also by diving into the most fun, curious, and light-hearted aspects that will animate the three weeks of the Corsa Rosa, now in its 109th edition.
The format was officially launched yesterday afternoon with an exclusive opening party at Collini Rooms, WorldHotels Crafted, part of the BWH Hotels Group, in Via Mecenate, Milan. During the event, guests received the first tips on how to build their teams. It was a “Family & Friends” evening attended by social media communities from the cycling world, influencers, and former professional riders. Each guest will act as a “Brand Ambassador,” creating content, taking part in our “Social Corners,” and spreading the word of the FantaGiro.
Also in 2026, fantasy managers will be able to create up to a maximum of five teams, selecting eight riders from those competing in the Giro d’Italia and appointing one as captain—a strategic role, as points earned based on stage results will be doubled. All of this must be done within the maximum budget of 100 Wolfie, the game’s official currency inspired by the Giro d’Italia mascot.
Once teams are completed and automatically entered into the Giro d’Italia Trophy, participants will also be able to compete in leagues—the most engaging format of the game—sharing their passion with friends, family, colleagues, or larger communities. Each user will be able to create up to five leagues and join a maximum of 25, freely registering their teams.
Among the main new features of the 2026 edition is the introduction of three different rankings: the Sporting Ranking, the Fanta Ranking, and the Overall Ranking. The Sporting Ranking will be based exclusively on riders’ real performances (stage results, official classifications, and competition-related bonuses). For the first time, the skill of fantasy managers will also be rewarded: results in the Sporting Ranking will offer all those who register for the FantaGiro d’Italia between April 8 and May 30—by creating a team of eight riders and choosing a captain—the chance to win the official jerseys of the 2026 Giro d’Italia general classifications, signed by their respective winners, as well as special jerseys dedicated to the most iconic stages of the Corsa Rosa.
The Fanta Ranking, on the other hand, will be determined by the “bonus” and “malus” rules designed for fun and curiosity, which riders will collect over the three weeks of the Giro—not only during the 21 stages but also during moments such as the signature podium and the awards ceremonies. The Overall Ranking will combine the previous two, taking into account all bonuses and penalties provided in the rules.
Another major innovation is the FantaScore, a parallel game that will allow users to test their predictive skills stage by stage. Through the app or website, participants will be able to answer prediction-based questions related to race events (such as stage winners, the Maglia Rosa, or breakaway awards), with quizzes varying depending on the type of stage. Those who play FantaScore will earn, for each quiz they participate in (regardless of whether their answers are correct), the chance to win official Giro d’Italia 2026 commemorative T-shirts by All4cycling.
