Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and Joshua Tarling said: “To win today is definitely exceptional. I was satisfied with my ride but the last part was harder than when we did it in the recon. Waiting for the other riders to complete the course was hard too, I don’t want to do it again. It was long. I was afraid of everyone among the favourites. Primoz [Roglic] was very impressive. I went all in yesterday so I have no regrets [with regards to the Maglia Rosa]. This first win in a Grand Tour is a new step in my career”.
