“Giro d’Italia: Economic Impact and Social Wellbeing” – 10 October 10:30 a.m.

08/10/2025

As part of the eighth edition of Il Festival dello Sport di Trento, organized by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Trentino Marketing, RCS Sports & Events, will host a new Bike Business Forum dedicated to the Corsa Rosa, entitled “Giro d’Italia: Economic Impact and Social Wellbeing”. The event will present the outcomes of several studies focused on the social and economic impact of the Giro d’Italia, along with new research on sustainable mobility.

The forum, moderated by Pier Bergonzi, Director of Sportweek and senior writer at La Gazzetta dello Sport, will showcase the results of studies conducted by the Banca IFIS Research Office during the last Giro d’Italia. According to their findings:

  • The Giro d’Italia, while confirming its role as an extraordinary economic engine generating € 2.1 million in direct and indirect impact, has also provided significant contributions to public wellbeing and increased participation in physical activity, while promoting sustainable practices, environmental health, and supporting social initiatives and fundraising campaigns.
  • The Corsa Rosa is not just a sporting event but also a powerful tool of soft power, capable of strengthening international relations and projecting abroad the values of inclusion and cooperation that characterize Italy, thereby contributing to the international promotion of the host country.

Additionally, the study “E-bike: The Engine of Sustainable Mobility Made in Italy” will be presented, exploring the industry, excellence, and global outlook of Italy’s e-bike sector. The project was promoted and carried out by the MAECI, MOST, and the University of Bergamo.

The presentation will be followed by a TALK featuring representatives from the organization, institutions, and Italy’s bike economy sector, who will discuss and comment on the main findings alongside cycling champions past and present, including Maurizio Fondriest and Giacomo Nizzolo.

Don’t miss the live streaming from Trento, Friday, 10 October from 10:30 a.m. on giroditalia.it, the Giro d’Italia’s social channels (YouTube, Daily Motion, Facebook e X), and on the LinkedIn page of RCS Sports & Events.
