Giro d’Italia 2026: the entry list with 3 days to go

05/05/2026

With three days to go until the Grande Partenza in Bulgaria, the provisional entry list for the 109th edition of the Giro d’Italia has been officially announced.

All eyes will be on Jonas Vingegaard, who is set to make his debut in the Corsa Rosa. The Danish rider, already a two-time Tour de France winner and Vuelta a España champion, will be aiming to join the exclusive club of riders who have won all three Grand Tours. Team Visma | Lease a Bike, winner of two of the last three editions of the Giro, will also line up with 2023 Vuelta a España champion Sepp Kuss.

Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe also boasts a highly competitive line-up, led by 2022 Giro winner Jai Hindley and Italian prospect Giulio Pellizzari, alongside Aleksandr Vlasov, who finished fourth in 2021.

Another powerhouse stage racing team, UAE Team Emirates XRG, will welcome back Adam Yates, recent winner of O Gran Camiño, Jay Vine, winner of the Tour Down Under, and rising talent Jan Christen, a contender for the Best Young Rider classification.

The GC contenders

Hindley will not be the only rider at the start with his name engraved on the Trofeo Senza Fine. Also lining up is Egan Bernal, returning for his third participation after his 2021 triumph and seventh place last year.

Netcompany Ineos will also rely on Thymen Arensman, sixth overall in both 2023 and 2024. Among the main GC contenders are Derek Gee (4th in 2025), Damiano Caruso (runner-up in 2021), Felix Gall, returning after four years, Ben O’Connor (4th in 2024), and debutant Enric Mas, supported by Einer Rubio.

Among the climbers targeting stage wins and the Maglia Azzurra are Giulio Ciccone, Michael Storer, Santiago Buitrago, Javier Romo, Juan Pedro López, Chris Harper, Marc Soler, Lennert Van Eetvelt, Filippo Zana, Andreas Leknessund, Wout Poels, Harold López, Warren Barguil and Alessandro Pinarello.

The Sprinters

The sprint field is as competitive as ever. The rider to beat will be Jonathan Milan, already with six wins in 2026 and holder of a remarkable record: he has won the points classification in each of the three Grand Tours he has completed.

His main rivals include Kaden Groves, Dylan Groenewegen, Pascal Ackermann, and young talents Tobias Lund Andresen, Paul Magnier and Arnaud De Lie. Also confirmed at the start are Casper van Uden, Ethan Vernon, Lukas Kubis, Erlend Blikra, Orluis Aular, and, among the Italians, Matteo Malucelli, Matteo Moschetti, Luca Mozzato, Giovanni Lonardi and Enrico Zanoncello.

Time Trial specialist

With seven stage wins at the Giro d’Italia, Filippo Ganna is the most successful rider in the field. The Italian, motivated by the stage finishing in his hometown of Verbania, will be the favourite for the Viareggio–Massa individual time trial. His main challengers include Alec Segaert, Rémi Cavagna, Magnus Sheffield and Matteo Sobrero.

There will also be no shortage of stage hunters, starting with Jasper Stuyven, fresh from a podium finish at Paris-Roubaix, and Christian Scaroni, a stage winner last year and already with three victories in 2026. Other riders to watch include Iván García Cortina, Michael Valgren, Vincenzo Albanese, Corbin Strong, Jhonatan Narváez, António Morgado, Andrea Vendrame, Alberto Bettiol and Diego Ulissi.
