Lorenzo Fortunato (XDS – Astana Team) claimed victory in Stage 11 of the FantaGiro d’Italia, the 186 km route from Viareggio to Castelnovo ne’ Monti.
The leader in the King of the Mountains standings (Maglia Azzurra) racked up a total of 65 points: 5 points from placements at the intermediate sprints, 4 for second place at the Red Bull KM, 15 for being the first over the cat. 1 KOM, and 10 for winning the cat. 2 KOM. The XDS – Astana rider also collected: 5 points for the Toast bonus, 10 for the Bouquet bonus, 1 point for the Conad Grocery bonus, 5 points for the SOLO Monorigine Coffee bonus (awarded for leading solo for at least 10 km), and 10 for the Breakaway Prize.
In second place was Giro stage winner Richard Carapaz (EF Education – EasyPost) with 55 points: 30 for winning the finish in Castelnovo ne’ Monti, 5 for his partial GC ranking, 10 for topping the cat. 2 KOM, and 10 for the “Regina” bonus – “Passion never ends”, awarded to the over-30 rider who wins a Giro stage.
Nairo Quintana (Movistar Team) took third place with 44 points: 6 for first place at the Red Bull KM, 9 for a strong showing on the cat. 1 KOM, 6 for second on the cat. 2 KOM, 10 for the Combativity Prize, 3 for the Conad Grocery bonus, and 10 for the Fondazione Telethon Water Bottle bonus, given to riders who donates a bottle to a fan.
