tourist info

The Santa Croce Lake is a natural lake (artificially expanded in the 1930s) located in Alpago (Belluno) on the border with the Treviso province. It is closed to the north by a dam which constitutes the vital centre of the Piave – Santa Croce hydroelectric plant system managed by Enel.

The lake hosts the Sbarai Oasis, a naturalistic site for birdwatching, as well as the experimental Centre for Fish Science (Baia delle Sirene, Farra d’Alpago) for the redevelopment of the area and the stimulation of fish production in the basin.

The lake is well-known and frequented by sailing enthusiasts, thanks to the favourable combination of wind and weather conditions.
