The Pylon of Torre Faro is one of the so-called “Pylons of the Strait”, standing on the Sicilian shore.

The “Pylons of the Strait” are the two pylons of the 220 kV high voltage power line (working for 30 years, from 1955 to 1985) that stand over the Strait of Messina between Calabria and Sicily. They are two independent steel towers, now decommissioned.

After the aerial connection was discontinued in the early 1990s and was replaced by a submarine connection, the pylons were not demolished. The Torre Faro electrical tower in particular has been completely repainted and is equipped with a polychromatic lighting system with variable intensity.
