Another stage that can be properly called to be one for the sprinters. But once again, fast wheels will have to earn their way to the much-coveted bunch sprint by crossing the Bormida Valley and the Apennines. The riders will climb up to 1000 m to the Col di Melogno and descend to Savona via the Col di Cadibona. From Savona, the peloton will travel along the Aurelia road and tackle Capo Mele, the last, short climb of the day.
