The tweets of the day: swimming to the finish line, Gee’s disappointment

20/05/2023

No way, even yesterday the riders took buckets of water for most of the day. In fact, coming down from the Simplon Pass they actually took even more than on previous days. Thus Laurenz Rex (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty) had fun miming a breaststroke. Someone else, on the other hand, bundled up nicely…

At the finish in Cassano Magnago, Nico Denz‘s (Bora-hansgrohe) joy contrasted with the disappointment of Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech), who finished 2nd for the third time in this Giro d’Italia.

The German enjoyed his second victory at the interview monitor, while Gee regretted not being able to bring home the much hoped-for victory.
