RCS Sport partner with the UCI for even greener cycling

18/11/2022

The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) has presented its manifesto for cycling with an increasingly low environmental impact. The manifesto was immediately signed by RCS Sport, a key player at the forefront of minimizing emissions during major cycling sporting events. This has been particularly prevalent through many tools created within the Giro d’Italia.

The UCI Charter is based on eight points, implementing the Paris climate agreement, aiming to reduce emissions from the use of fossil coal, between now and 2030, and limiting global warming to 1,5 degrees. The Organization said the next five years will be crucial in accelerating the transformations necessary for sustainable climate development.

One of the cornerstones of this action will be the systematic measurement of the climate footprint of the events on the UCI calendar. They will activate all communication channels to raise awareness on the topic among the general public worldwide.

RCS Sport, which immediately signed up to the Charter, has already been active for years on the sustainability front. Along with the use of low environmental impact cars in races, the Ride Green campaign, based on a separate waste collection and waste flow traceability system, is a project aimed at safeguarding the areas visited by the Giro d’Italia.
