First “Giro d’Italia Ride Green” to be held Dublin

09/05/2023

The Italian Embassy in Ireland and the Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin, together with the ICE Agenzia, are joining the “Irish Bike Week 2023” with an Italian cycling event: “Giro d’Italia Ride Green“.

The event will be held on the morning of Sunday 14 May 2023 on an 8-kilometre route along the banks of the River Liffey, starting at the western tip of Phoenix Park and finishing at the beautiful grounds of Lucan House, residence of the Ambassador of Italy in Ireland. This will be an amateur event open to all and focusing on sustainability, green mobility and the production of bicycles and e-bikes.

The idea of this event,” explained Ambassador Ruggero Corrias, “stems from the desire to inspire Dubliners and bike-loving Irish people to enjoy an Italian-style cycling experience, welcoming them to the Ambassador’s residence and offering them an Italian atmosphere, showcasing the excellence of Italian bicycle production, sustainability, e-bikes and electric mopeds”.

At the finish line, cyclists will have the chance to taste complimentary Italian food and drinks and enjoy the live music of the Lucan Concert Band. An exhibition of Giro d’Italia-related items will also be arranged, and it will be possible to ride a virtual Giro d’Italia on Technogym bicycles. Finally, event participants will be offered the opportunity to try out some bicycles from historical brands such as Bianchi, Wilier, Colnago and Greenbikes.
