FantaGiro d’Italia 2026 closed with record-breaking numbers, confirming the continued growth of the official fantasy game of the Corsa Rosa, created by RCS Sport in collaboration with the FantaSanremo team. The figures tell the story of an increasingly successful project: more than 60,000 teams were created by around 50,000 fantasy managers, demonstrating how FantaGiro has become one of the most anticipated experiences for fans who want to enjoy the Giro d’Italia in an even more engaging way, combining strategy, intuition and fun.
And if Giro d’Italia 2026 had one undisputed dominator, the same can be said of FantaGiro. The standout star of this edition was Jonas Vingegaard of Team Visma | Lease a Bike, who not only claimed the Maglia Rosa but also topped all three fantasy game rankings.
Starting with the Sports Ranking, the classification based exclusively on riders’ real performances, with points awarded according to stage results, official standings and bonuses strictly linked to competition, Jonas Vingegaard of Team Visma | Lease a Bike emerged as the clear winner with 559 points. The Danish champion built his tally through his overall victory at Giro d’Italia 2026 and his five stage wins, numbers that highlighted his dominance throughout all three weeks of the race. Behind him finished an outstanding Giulio Ciccone of Lidl-Trek, second with 315 points. The rider from Abruzzo crowned a superb final week by securing the Maglia Azzurra as King of the Mountains, thanks to numerous breakaways and the valuable points he collected in the mountain classifications, including the crucial haul earned on the Cima Coppi at Passo Giau during the epic Dolomite stage finishing in Alleghe. Completing the Sports Ranking podium was Felix Gall of Decathlon CMA CGM with 310 points, rewarded for the remarkable consistency he displayed on mountain finishes, where for much of the Giro he proved to be the rider closest to the “extraterrestrial” Vingegaard.
The captain of Team Visma | Lease a Bike also claimed first place in the Fanta Ranking, the classification that represents the game’s most creative and unpredictable side. This ranking is determined by bonuses and penalties awarded not only during the race itself, but also during side events, podium ceremonies and the most entertaining moments involving the riders. Vingegaard finished on top with 306 points, earned mainly through frequent “Greeting Bonuses” — awarded to riders who wave to the cameras during the race — “Bouquet Bonuses”, earned by stage winners and holders of the Giro jerseys who throw flowers, gloves, sunglasses or other items to the crowd during podium ceremonies, as well as numerous daily bonuses accumulated throughout the three weeks of racing. In second place, and winner of no fewer than five FantaStages, was Martin Marcellusi of Bardiani CSF 7 Saber with 243 points, confirming himself as one of the most consistent and rewarding riders when it came to collecting Fanta bonuses. Third place went to Mattia Bais of Team Polti VisitMalta, who finished with 207 points and once again proved to be a standout performer in the fantasy game’s most unpredictable moments.
Representing the perfect blend of the two sides of FantaGiro d’Italia is the General Classification, calculated by combining the points earned in both the Sports Ranking and the Fanta Ranking. Once again, the undisputed winner is Jonas Vingegaard, who tops the standings with 865 points. Behind him finishes one of the biggest revelations of Giro d’Italia 2026, Portugal’s Afonso Eulálio of Bahrain Victorious, who rewarded the fantasy managers who selected him with an impressive 460 points, thanks above all to his nine days in the Maglia Rosa and his eventual triumph in the Maglia Bianca classification for best young rider. Completing the Overall Ranking podium is Giulio Ciccone with 447 points, following a generous and spectacular Giro that allowed him to shine both in the real race and in the fantasy game.
Another edition full of entertainment, twists and enthusiastic participation comes to a close, further confirming FantaGiro d’Italia as one of the most engaging and popular elements of the Corsa Rosa.
