Born in 1957, Roberto Visentini was one of the great protagonists of Italian cycling in the 1980s. After finishing second in the 1983 Giro d'Italia behind Beppe Saronni, he won the Corsa Rosa in 1986, triumphing on his birthday, 2 June. In twelve appearances in the Giro d'Italia, he achieved five stage victories and wore the Maglia Rosa for a total of twenty-seven days, wearing it in five different editions, confirming his career at the highest level.
