technical info
The second mountainous Apennine stage. After a short approach, riders enter the Teramo and Piceno mountains, heading to Sarnano and climbing Sassotetto (Valico di Santa Maria Maddalena – 1455 m). A technical descent leads into a relentless series of climbs and descents. After Camerino, the course loops around Castelraimondo on a roughly 25 km open circuit.
Final kilometres
The finale includes two short but steep climbs. First to Castel Santa Maria (12–13% gradients over 2 km), then through narrow roads to Matelica and Gagliole. At 6.5 km to go, there’s a short wall of 800 m at 12%+ before a technical descent down to 2 km from the finish. A sharp right turn at 400 m leads into town, with a rising road between 5% and 2% all the way to the slightly uphill finish on 7-metre-wide asphalt.
