The fans of the Giro d’Italia have picked their favourite Maglia Rosa of all time
With over one million votes, the followers of the Giro d’Italia have finally chosen their favourite rider in the first 90 years of history of the Maglia Rosa. And the winner was… the Pirate! After a single-elimination tournament between the 32 greatest Giro winners, Marco Pantani prevailed over another legendary name in cycling: Fausto Coppi. Two sacred monsters, the likes of Merckx and Contador, were the other semi-finalists. The odds seemed all in Marco’s favour… and so it was! Once again, the public showed all their love for an ace that has sparked the passion of cycling enthusiasts worldwide. The prize for the 90 years of the Maglia Rosa is a well-earned celebration for a champion that will forever be remembered, and a token of endless love – Amore Infinito – from his countless fans.
