Il Giro d’Italia on tv: an historical first with the brand new production

UNA PRIMA VOLTA STORICA CON CON LA NUOVA PRODUZIONE TELEVISIVA TARGATA RCS SPORT-EMG GROUP

Budapest, 5 May 2022 – EMG Group and RCS Sport have ratified an important partnership agreement for the next three seasons, seeing the enterprise leader in Host Production work alongside RCS Sport in all the Italian cycling competitions for live production.

EMG Italy, together with the entities of the EMG Belgium and EMG France group, has prepared a production set-up that will fully guarantee live TV coverage of the Giro d’Italia.

The entire package of competitions organized by RCS Sport in Italy provides approximately two months of production activity in the field, for which EMG Italy, together with Belgium and France, will employ an average of 48 vehicles, including three main trucks and arranging a total of 10 cameras, 6 audio / video motorcycles and 4 audio motorcycles. There will also be 2 helicopters equipped with cineflex cameras. The shooting signals will be guaranteed by two aerial bridges, in order to continually provide the most exciting footage during the stages, regardless of environmental or atmospheric variables in HD resolution.

We will offer live images in full for every stage, so that cycling fans all over the world will be able to watch every single moment of the toughest race in the world’s most beautiful place.”

WHERE TO WATCH THE GIRO D’ITALIA ON TV

The international television broadcast of the 21 stages of the Giro d’Italia will be produced by the host broadcaster EMG, live and in full, from the first to the last pedal stroke, so that fans can follow “the toughest race in the world’s most beautiful place” in full. The TV images will be distributed across the world, thanks to the diffusion by 15 different television networks.

IN THE WORLD

The Corsa Rosa will be available on Eurosport, Eurosport Player, GCN + and Discovery + for an integral and multi-platform offering available across the whole of Europe, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
There will be free-to-air coverage of the event by RSI in the Canton of Ticino, by EITB in the Basque Country, by S4C in Wales and by MTVA on the M4 Sport channel in Hungary for the stages of the Grande Partenza.
In the USA, the Giro can be watched on BeIN Sport, while in South America on Direct TV, exclusively with the exception of Colombia where the live broadcast will also be provided by Caracol, free to air. Fans in Japan will be able to follow the race on J Sport, in Australia on SBS and Viceland, in New Zealand on SKY Sport, and in Sub-Saharan Africa on Supersport.
Worldwide, the Corsa Rosa will be broadcast on GCN+ and Discovery+.

IN ITALY

RAI will broadcast every stage free-to-air. The TV schedule will begin with an hour of “Aspettando il Giro” on Rai Sport + HD, a program that will include the presentation of the riders and the pre-race interviews, after which there will be “Prima diretta” on the same channel to follow the start of the stage until 14:00. Then the programming of the Corsa Rosa will move to Rai 2, with “Giro in Diretta” until 16:15 and “Giro all’Arrivo” immediately following, for the commentary of the final phases of each stage, up to the finish at around 17:15. Immediately following the race, will be the traditional post-race analysis of the ‘Process alla Tappa’, generally lasting 45 minutes. At 20:00 TGiro on Rai Sport + HD and Giro Notte at 00:00 will close the day.
In Italy, the Corsa Rosa can also be followed on Eurosport, Eurosport Player, GCN + and Discovery +.
