The prize in this category is awarded to the city that was best prepared to host the Giro d’Italia, the one that best embodied the spirit and mood of the Corsa Rosa.
The award goes to Notaresco, a mediaeval village perched on a hill in the province of Teramo, not far from the Adriatic Sea.
The main street of the ancient village was decorated in a surprising way, so simple yet so tasteful.
The peloton rolled out under the shade of dozens of pink umbrellas which the local stage committee had hung up above the road, as if they were a light cover, a gentle hug, a warm wish for the rest of the journey, a patch of pink sky above the race.
Kudos to Notaresco for winning the prize for the Best Host City Dressing of the 2021 Giro.
