Ackermann wins stage 2 of the Tirreno-Adriatico, and retains the Maglia Azzurra

The German rider Pascal Ackermann (Bora – Hansgrohe) has won the second stage of the 55th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico EOLO, 201km from Camaiore to Follonica, ahead of Fernando Gaviria Rendon (UAE Team Emirates) and Rick Zabel (Israel Start – Up Nation). Pascal Ackermann retains the Maglia Azzurra as the leader of the GC.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and Maglia Azzurra Pascal Ackermann, said: “Also today we were really strong, the lead-out was perfect. It was a long sprint and probably I launched the sprint at the perfect distance to the finish. The next stages are too difficult for me, I might try again on Saturday.”
