Stage 1
Giro d'Italia begins for the 12th time in a foreign country. This individual time trial runs entirely through the city, along wide, straight avenues, with just a few 90-degree bends. Speed bumps, roundabouts and street furniture will be found throughout the route. Split time is taken at km 4.8. The final kilometres are completely flat, with two right-hand bends and three straight stretches in between. The final bend leads into the 600-m long home straight, on 6.5-m wide asphalt road.
