HIGHLIGHTS

CALTAGIRONE

An agricultural centre located in central Sicily, Caltagirone is known for its pottery production, an activity that has been developed across the centuries from the times of Magna Graecia. The city stands at the western edge of the province, at an altitude of 608 m, on three hills that, forming an amphytheatre, act as the watershed between the valleys of  the Maroglio river, projecting into the gulf of Gela, and the valley of the Caltagirone river that flows down to the plane of Catania.
