Maison Cilento 1780 and Giro d’Italia: a renewed collaboration

Maison Cilento 1780, the historic Neapolitan brand of sartorial elegance, continues the exclusive collaboration with Giro d’Italia as official licensee of the ties for the upcoming edition, starting from Budapest on May 9th 2020.

Maison Cilento 1780 created two special ties, handcrafted in navy blue pure silk in its Neapolitan workshops and featuring two iconic designs on the front: a stylised bicycle and the impressive Trofeo Senza Fine, one of the most coveted awards in the world thanks to its original spiral surface carved with the name of the winners. Both models reveal Giro d’Italia logo on the back and the stripes revoking the emblematic colours of the event (pink, white and grey) on the front. The two ties, a stylish must-have accessory and a perfect Christmas gift idea, are available from November 2019 exclusively online on Giro d’Italia official website and in the Cilento boutique located in Naples.

Ugo Cilento, eighth generation of the historic family renowned in the tailoring business, stated: “I’m very honoured that the collaboration with Giro d’Italia has been renewed, confirming the special link with this well-known and respected event attracting followers from all over the world”.

Cilento ties, both lined and unlined, are a true masterpiece of sartorial art. Made of pure silk twill, they are all seven-fold ties according to the rules and proportions dictated by the great expertise in the field.

Before being hemmed, the fine silk twill is folded on itself seven times to give greater thickness. The process, which requires three hours of work and twice the fabric normally used, represents the utmost in Cilento style. Alongside the refined and exclusive patterns, Maison Cilento has created “themed” ties dedicated to the world of crafts and professions, sports and art, which elegantly depict iconographies and original designs.
