An exclusive interview to Vincenzo Nibali:
What does the Giro d’Italia represent for Vincenzo Nibali?
“For an Italian it is without a shadow of a doubt the most important race; it is the biggest dream of all your career. After two years of absence I want to once again feel the love of the fans and the aficionados, and of all the people that you meet along the roads of the Giro.”
Your season started in the best possible way with the victory in Oman. How are you going to approach the March races (Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico, Milano-Sanremo) as well as keeping the Giro as your goal?
“Victory in Oman confirmed that I worked well this winter. The next races are all different from each other; the one that suits me best is the “Race of the Two Seas.”
All the riders’ programs have now been unveiled. Which riders do you think will challenge you for the final classification of the Corsa Rosa?
“There are a few, but the first names that spring into my mind are Mikel Landa, Alejandro Valverde and Tom Dumoulin, who I saw in good form in Oman.”
A message from Vincenzo Nibali to all the cycling fans who follow the Giro d’Italia every year out on the roads, on TV or through our new website and our social media?
“Follow the Corsa Rosa, it’s going to be great fun!”
