Stage 4: 3 KMs to the finish. Polanc head of the race - FOLLOW THE LIVE

This challenging stage with 3,500m of total elevation will end up on Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, showing the form of the GC contenders.

The Giro d’Italia remembered Wouter Weylandt, who died exactly six years ago on the roads of the Corsa Rosa with a minute’s silence.

The peloton, 195 riders strong, passed km 0 at 12.08.
