Good morning from Stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia

Good morning from Stage 6 of the Giro d’Italia, organised by RCS Sport/La Gazzetta dello Sport, and running from 11 May to 2 June. 238km from Cassino to San Giovanni Rotondo, it’s a very long stage with a climb in the finale. Today’s route includes, at the start, the site of WWII Operation Diadem, which took place 75 years ago – 11-19 May 1944, during the liberation – and, near the finish, San Giovanni Rotondo in the Gargano National Park, the resting place of the remains of San Pio from Pietrelcina.

The peloton, 169 riders strong, passed km 0 at 11:23.
